Instead of a Fandom of the Week, we're going to try something a little different this week. This is going to be ZINES WEEK. Go find your favorite zine or just one that you refuse to get rid of even though you really need the space back and write it up for the group. Name, Author if it is a single author, Publisher, Fandom and something about it. Basically, pimp the zine.

So Zine #1 for me is Working the Graveyard Shift by Dormouse. It is a Blake's 7 zine, but it isn't any of the regular pairings. It is Avon/Travis #2. What I love about it is that Dormouse deals with some of the issues that the show doesn't - why does Travis look completely different (not only did they change the actor, but they did the prosthetics differently), aren't there other ways to bring down the Federation, a look at what Federation society is really like. Plus, it is done with humor, but is still believable.

Basically, the plot summary is that this is an alternate history of season two, starting with the events in Weapon. Travis kidnaps Avon rather than shooting him with Imipak. Travis 2 is actually the younger brother of Travis 1 who has been brainwashed into thinking he's Travis 1 who has basically said F- this, go catch Blake yourself, I'm out of here. Avon, who evidently knew both brothers back on Earth, leaves the Liberator, taking Orac with him, to head for a safe planet with Travis.

The Measure of Affection by Ros Williams (Also Blake's 7 and a rare pair) Publisher info and a link to a digital copy are below.

This one is also tied to the episode Weapon in season 2. This time instead of pairing Avon with Travis 2, it pairs him with the puppeteer, Carnell. Basically, Servalan hired a puppeteer to try and figure out what everyone would do in the situation and give her advice on how to make things swing her way. He ends up having his own interests in the crew of the Liberator - or at least in one of the members of the crew! It is wonderfully written and great fun to watch Blake losing it over the flirting and emerging relationship between Carnell and Avon.

A novel by Ros Williams. The puppeteer, Carnell, is back and aboard the Liberator. Is he on the Rebellion's side, Servalan's side, or his own side.…
