It is a world with superheroes, but everything is done through a corporation. There are no supervillains, just superheroes and they're all under contract through the Voight company. The thing is just because you are a superhero, doesn't mean you are a good person. Enter our "heroes" - Butcher the ex-CIA operative who recruits poor, sweet Hughie (who was a superfan until witnessing A-Train exploding his girlfriend and not giving a dang about it) to help him and his ragtag team "The Boys". Frenchie is the weapons expert, Mother's Milk is more like a regular CIA agent. They are trying to find a way to bring down "The Seven" which is basically their equivalent of the Avengers. The Seven is lead by Homelander (Superman only with a Captain America vibe) is actually pretty nuts. I don't want to give too much of the plot away but it is definitely worth watching.

Oct. 11th, 2019 11:30 amDenny Crane 1: This is the first in a series of 4 compilation zines for Boston Legal. The majority of the stories are on the shorter side, but they are well written and are great examples of the show. For instance, CinderAlan has Alan dressing in drag to sneak out of a punishment by Paul to go to Denny's party. With another show that might be a stretch. With Boston Legal it works.

Oct. 11th, 2019 11:29 amAnywho, here we go "Reflections" by Lynn Montgomery. It is a Slash Highlander novel (Methos/Kronos, Methos/OC, Methos/Caspian). It takes place after the big friendship break up between Methos and Duncan over the fact that Methos was part of the Horsemen back in the Bronze age (because Duncan can't deal with the fact that what is right is tied to the culture of the time). It is also past the episode where Duncan kills Methos' friend Byron because he might cause someone else to die again -- he's not a serial killer, he just convinces other artists like him to do stupid things which could lead to them dying. Anyway, their friendship is in tatters at the beginning of this fic and for some unknown reason Methos and Duncan decide to take Joe on a world tour. Needless to say things are tense. Duncan insists on taking Joe to all these sites with historical / cultural significance when really he's just trying to get information on Methos' past. He manages to find out more than he'd planned when he takes them to a historical farm that has been in existence for 3,000 years and guess who was a slave there ... This novel is very graphic and has a lot of violent imagery (Horsemen and the Bronze age so sort of to be expected). That being said it also has great Joe and Methos friendship.

Oct. 7th, 2019 04:40 pmThis one is also tied to the episode Weapon in season 2. This time instead of pairing Avon with Travis 2, it pairs him with the puppeteer, Carnell. Basically, Servalan hired a puppeteer to try and figure out what everyone would do in the situation and give her advice on how to make things swing her way. He ends up having his own interests in the crew of the Liberator - or at least in one of the members of the crew! It is wonderfully written and great fun to watch Blake losing it over the flirting and emerging relationship between Carnell and Avon.

Oct. 7th, 2019 08:39 amBasically, the plot summary is that this is an alternate history of season two, starting with the events in Weapon. Travis kidnaps Avon rather than shooting him with Imipak. Travis 2 is actually the younger brother of Travis 1 who has been brainwashed into thinking he's Travis 1 who has basically said F- this, go catch Blake yourself, I'm out of here. Avon, who evidently knew both brothers back on Earth, leaves the Liberator, taking Orac with him, to head for a safe planet with Travis.
