This one doesn't have a work-together plot, but it has one of the slashiest scenes in the entire series – even GEN fans say it's slashy! Dietrich has captured Troy and his men and says, "What am I going to do with you?" Troy asks flirtatiously, "Are you open to suggestions?" C.J. Ueberall's "Pebble" series, another awesome set of stories that I was thrilled to publish in FLANKING MANEUVERS, begins with an alternative version of the episode "Chain of Death Raid," in which Troy and Dietrich are forced to fight one another. The slashiness is slow-building and very satisfying.

"Sentimental" is a lovely portrayal of quiet affection; I particularly like the characterization of Tully. "No God or General" is one of the rare longer and more serious Hitch/Tully pieces that I've seen; I particularly liked Moffitt's role in discussing with Hitch the value of diverse perspectives.

Deb's "Duty" series, which I was proud to publish in Flanking Maneuvers, was rightly popular for its serious Troy/Dietrich relationship arc, blended with exciting action and hot hot lovin'. It's hard to pick a favorite, but you can't go wrong with this one: a tension-filled joint mission into S.S. headquarters, where Troy and Dietrich have sex in a very small bathroom. I mean, photograph critical information for the Allies. And have sex!
If you'd like to start with something shorter, here's a wonderfully angsty and UST-y short piece by Nomad called "Temporary Truces."

slashmommy Fandom of the Week: The Rat Patrol (in color!)
Rat Patrol was a half-hour action-adventure about Allied commandoes in WWII in North Africa. About half the episodes also featured their nemesis, the resourceful Captain Dietrich of the Afrika Korps.
How slashy is it? The Rats in general and their leader Troy in particular develop respect for their honorable opponent, Dietrich and vice-versa. Meanwhile, Troy has to learn to get along with Moffitt, a new Rat added to the team in the pilot. So it's really all about the relationships.
In place of a link to a ship_manifesto entry, I offer two brilliant tumblr posts by justastormie, whom I do not know but whose episode commentaries I hugely admire. She describes Troy and Dietrich as "rolling around in UST and testosterone" (Chain of Slash) and further observes that "no one ships [Troy/Dietrich] like the Rats ship it" (Cave of Slash).

Aug. 19th, 2019 08:45 amslashmommy Since I was a wee bit busy last week to be reading, I'm going with a Fandom of the Week that I'm pretty immersed in at the moment - Human Target.
Meet Christopher Chance (Mark Valley) raised as an assassin, he breaks away from his family and works to redeem himself by saving people with his friend the retired cop Laverne Winston (Chi McBride) - who no one calls Laverne - and Guerrero (Jackie Earle Haley). Guerrero worked for the same group of assassins/hit-men, but always has Chance's back even when Chance decides to go in with a plan of "wing it".
